When There's Nothing Left to Burn

What the hell happen in 2016? It got to me too. I basically spent this year half ass fulfilling all the promises I made when I was feeling really good in 2015. That's really lame but it's honestly the only way I can describe this past year. A true struggle. But with everything awkwardly hanging in the balance, I have felt a lightness. I also felt this need to start over; to start from the beginning. So I took a long break to think and work on different creative endevors and new trades.

When it came down to it, photography is everywhere for me. I can't get pictures and scenes out of my head. My memory is strong and I feel like photography helps that. I want so badly for people to see things the way I do. The beauty is everywhere. It's in the streets, in the woods, in you and me. I think we really need to see that right now.

So yeah, here I am. The best way to get out of any funk is self portraits. It's funny doing self portraits now because I'm far more self aware. I think it's all this time living in the "selfie generation" and knowing you could be forced into one any second.

You, Me and Stevie.

Literally days before my sweet friend, Cierra, gave birth to the most darling baby girl. I got to take a few snaps of her and her beau, Michael before the arrival. I'm not even joking when I say literally. We took pictures on a Saturday and she was induced by Monday! I'm so proud of them and the gosh darn beautiful life they've created. We all love you so much already, Stevie Pehr! Plus, have you seen a more heavenly pregnant woman in your life? She puts us all to shame.

Come Through

Kat and Trent got the chance to come into town for day or two during spring break! I honestly had so much fun driving around town with them sweating, shopping and listening to music. We didn't shoot too much because we were very much living in the moment...also, you know, the heat. Luckily, I'll get to do some that in Houston in a couple of weeks for Kat's graduation (the girl is getting her MASTERS!!!)

I'm seriously reminiscing on spring break from last year. I'm brainstorming something new for when I see Kat next. Her graduation pictures will be something to see!

In a Kate Bush way

A few months back Kat and I did some light shopping at Buffalo Exchange where she found this dream of a dress. Finding a long, flowy dress for a girl who is 6'0'' most days is not easy so stumbling upon this beauty for only $16...I literally wouldn't let her say no. We snapped a couple pictures in my room later that night, but the only ones I cared anymore for were the instant ones. It's okay, all it did was enhance the Kate Bush vibes she was racking in.

Moving On

I've been making quite a few trips back and forth to Austin in the past few months for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is because the husband got an amazing job opportunity out there so I'll officially be moving back at the end of this month. That's honestly why I've been so absent. I was basically on pins and needles figuring out all the details but we can finally put the word out and we are so happy!

One of the trips down there I got to do a mini shoot with my best friend, Kaitlyn. We're basically sisters and it's pretty odd that I've only taken her picture this way maybe one other time. But this babe better get used to it (and you guys too) because she'll be around the blog a lot more.

6 months

Next Friday it'll be exactly 6 months until I get married. Let's just say I feel less then prepared but I'm excited. To be honest, I work way better under pressure so this is perfect for me. I'm considering from now basically until October crunch time on getting everything done. Thank god I've got my shoes and my dress out the way!

I'll be heading to Austin (again) next week to see my sister and look for a places to have the ceremony, take pictures, etc. I was never the sort of girl who already had their wedding in planned out (honestly, if you would of asked 15 year old Jade about her future wedding she would of laughed in your face. I had no plans on getting married back then.) Although the process is stressful, I'm still super excited about everything.

Speaking of shoes last month while everything was in mid bloom, I took some pictures of my shoes that perfectly matched the flowers. I probably would of done more but that tree was buzzing with bees so it just wasn't worth the risk, but I'm still very much in love with how they came out.

a Disney Princess

While in Austin I got to visit another awesome friend of mine. Remember when I mentioned about Kat staying in Austin for the summer? Well, her amazing Aunt and Uncle invited me to stay while Kat and I ruled the town for a day or two. It was great; Kat is really made for that city. I'm so glad she got to experience my hometown and better yet, we got to do it together! She's coming back to Fort Worth for a little bit before heading to Wyoming for the semester. Man, have I missed that girl like crazy.

Oh, and I shouldn't forget...I helped her dye her hair. What we thought would be a nice auburn kind of turned out to be a Ariel red. It's okay, she loves it as do I! But I mean, isn't she the spitting image of the Little Mermaid? Her blog named Mermaid Tail Scales fits quite perfectly now.

I couldn't resist.

Kat Cordes

My last post was a few snap shots of my good friend, Kat! Well last weekend(ish) she told me she was moving to Austin for the rest of the summer. Yeah, I've been bummed no less but I was so thankful for getting to spend 24 hour super awesome hours with her! There was late night Denny's for free, lots driving, talking, singing Lana Del Rey (my guilty pleasure), staying up late and waking up early. We also adventured downtown Fort Worth where we indulged in the best cupcakes I've ever tasted and got our thrift on.
while shopping I got to play around with my vsco cam app. pretty neat!

Later in the evening we got to take some real picture which I've been itching to do...especially of Kat! Who wouldn't want to take pictures of this silly 5'9'' gorgeous girl?

Very excited to be visiting Austin near the end of July. This lady also has a blog where she'll be documenting her summer in Austin!
