Just Like Heaven

A little over a month ago, I got the honor of taking pictures of my good friend and ex coworker, Callie! She's so fun and adorably pint sized so I jumped at the chance of getting to take her picture. These pictures make me think of how warm it was that day and failed attempts to keep cool in between outfit changes. I've always been so drawn to her punky style (normally she's in far more black). Her first look instantly made me think of The Cure...I mean, it's all about the hat.

I can't wait to make a trip up to Denton soon to see her!

Reflections and Beginnings.

I've pretty much been neglecting all internet responsibilities since Thanksgiving. I've basically switched retail jobs and this Christmas season has pretty much wrecked my social productivity. I mean, that's really the holiday season for everyone though.

Next year I'm definitely making photography a bigger priority and taking bigger strides to do it full time within the next few years while Reggie finishes getting his degree. Everything in the universe is telling me it's time to move forward and everyones telling me, "yeah, you can do this!" That's all I can really say about anything right now. You never know when something crazy can drop out of the sky (which is something that 2013 has definitely taught me!) I will say I'm doing a make over on this site so everyone might be seeing more of it.

Speaking of 2013, it's been a big big year. I know it's only Christmas Eve and I've got a whole week to go but I always feel like after Christmas the year is basically over. I'm so happy for all the opportunities that have been placed in front of me and the awesome events I've been able to shoot! Also this year has felt like my best photographic growth yet! I have some big ideas and goals in mind for this 2014.

Now to the good stuff...

Gone for the day to the Trolley Wood

Again, I'm thanking Allyson for her amazing patients and love for me because you would never notice that it was 40 degrees plus wind chill by her face. Don't worry, in between shots I made sure she was wrapped in comforter.

I had a different place in mind but we settled for this park for distance and time sake. Honestly I wouldn't of had it any other way. I personally haven't seen such perfect lighting in quite sometime, well at least since I used to explore woods in Austin years ago. Ally and I hit the jackpot big time and it was totally worth the mile trek through the wooded areas and almost getting lost. Almost.

Honeymooners

Reggie and I recently went on our very late honeymoon. We had much bigger plans to be totally honest but with family emergencies, midterms and everything else in-between getting in the way...nothing really turned out right. We kept it simple and thought getting away from Dallas/Fort Worth was enough.

We first spent some time in town and did some fun stuff (free show at my job AND free Old 97's show? I'll take it!) then came to Austin for a couple days to relax and do some adventuring around the city which is something we haven't done in years together. I definitely exhausted Reg and myself but I think we had a blast. Reggie isn't very good at relaxing so it took him a bit to loosen up and not constantly think about school and work. (Having his work emails connected to his phone will be the death of him, I swear.)

I had my camera with my the whole time but honestly, I've had a hard time getting myself to lug it around with all the walking we were doing. I did get a few Instax (which have been coming out better then my dSLR pictures to be honest). I plan on buying a photo scanner tomorrow so I can start posting all the ones I've taken recently. I'm pretty proud of them and they deserved to be displayed somewhere else other then my house!

I did however make do a lot of recording on my phone and made a little video. I apologize right now about my shaky hands, I'm still learning. But I am getting a hold of this video/editing thing. I really like it and I see myself doing more of this in the near future.

Fall Ready

I am so, so ready for Fall. I mean, I really think everyone is at this point. If you live in Texas, you'd know that it's been hot, hot, hot! Well, apparently not as blistering as last summer but hot is hot is hot to me.

On that day, I think Ally was reading my mind as always with her "witchy" look. This mini shoot definitely made me itch for Halloween (our top favorite holiday). I'm already reminiscing on horror movies, American Horror Story: Coven and Fright Fest nights at Six Flags. I'm even thinking of doing a Halloween themed shoot if time permits between my honeymoon.
