I pushed myself into taking some self portraits today. I love light and shadows, always have. After a very stressful semester it's really nice to relax a little and let go.

Final Project

I'm working on my Final Project for my photography class in school. Honestly, it's freaking me out way more then it should. Today I got everything all figured out, traded some paper and ended up making 4 out of the 10 prints I need. I still have to figure out mounting but I'm SO happy with the results so far. It actually makes the me a little sad that the semester is over. But since I have a few extras I'm going to be opening a print shop for some of them.

Here are the 4 prints I got done today. I'm hoping to have the whole set done but Wednesday and mounting finished in a week!

A quick update:

I've been making the prints for my final project and it's going goood! Some paper aside, I'm happy with the results. I'll probably be making more extras then I've been meaning to. I think after the holiday season (mainly for time purposes: having a retail job in the holiday season, ugh.) I want to maybe sell some limited prints? Maybe even frame them if I can. I would consider if anyone's interested.

I'm also working really hard on getting a site going some time in January and having some commission prices but only time will tell. I'm really happy and inspired by all the awesome feedback I've been getting!

This is all definitely a work in progress but I'm working hard.

Over Exposed

I am updating for Austin! Obviously one of my favorite places to be. Anyways, it was Audrey's 20th birthday on Thursday so I made an impromptu trip on Wednesday night. Of course, I had other things on my mind, mainly my final project for my photo class. We joked around about doing something risque for it and we don't normally joke about something without being half serious. I'm so proud of Audrey for letting me take these! Honestly, I feel like we were both overcoming a lot with this shoot. We were both very vulnerable but I'm anticipating the outcome will be amazing. Most of what was done was shot on film for my class so those will take a while for me to develop and sort through but we took a couple test on my digital. So feast your eyes; she does look very beautiful.

Film

Film and I, well, we've got a love/hate relationship. It's really the money and waiting that I hate. Even getting film developed at Walgreen's is a bit pricey and finding a dark room...well not everyone has one (although that would be awesome). Plus, I'm all about instant gratification! So not being able to see anything right after I take picture kind of bothers me. But the outcome of film is just like nothing else. When I produce a print, I feel like it's hand crafted and it's far more personal then replicating a digital file.

Yeah, film has stolen my heart..again.

(these are prints I made today. one day I'll figure out a way to scan prints but for now there have been taken with my iPhone, of course.)

Babes

If anyone every told you taking pictures of children is hard...then they were definitely right! But I love the challenge. Plus taking pictures of my awesome goddaughter ain't too bad to catch either. I'm in love with daylight and setting a mood so I thought it was funny (since the sun was setting) how melancholy the light was but it just really worked. The idea of take cheesy, sunshiny pictures of this kiddo was kind of annoying to me. She deserved something a little bit different...or maybe I'm biased.

and thank you, Tawnya! for being an awesome mommy and helping me chase this one down for an hour.

A Home

I was pretty stoked on getting to live on my own again. Reg and I have been living here the past month and it's been really awesome. There are some minor problems with the place but other then that it's pretty much almost perfect but my favorite part is the living room. It's so comfortable and all the silhouetted trees on the windows make it look like we live in a tree house.
